The Department of Psychological Science invites applications for a one-year, Visiting Assistant Professor position for the 2025-2026 academic year with a specialty in social, developmental, or biological psychology.
This position replaces a faculty member who is away on a one-year international Fulbright Scholarship. The candidate will be joining a rich psychology program with a deep focus on the science of psychology. Research methods and statistics are thoughtfully integrated throughout the curriculum. Students leave our program equipped with a skillset that allows them to succeed both in graduate programs and in careers that are not directly related to psychology. Psychology is also a popular major for students pursuing occupational therapy.
Responsibilities:
Teach eight courses per year (divided across two semesters and January/summer terms), including courses in their area of specialization, Research Methods and Statistics, and a team-taught course in Introduction to Psychological Science.
They may have the opportunity to mentor students in thesis research, which is often integrated with the professor’s ongoing research program.
Qualifications:
Must have a Ph.D. in psychology (awarded by their start date) and some college-level teaching experience. The Department of Psychological Science at Carthage College thrives on community.
