The Role As a Software Engineer at Runloop, you'll be at the forefront of building a revolutionary platform that enables the next generation of AI-augmented software engineering tools. We need your expertise in front-end development to play a critical role in shaping the interfaces, workflows, and experiences that developers use to interact with AI-augmented software engineering tools. You’ll own major parts of the user-facing product and work across the stack to solve high-impact issues for our customers—both proactively and reactively. With a growing surface area and real customers pushing the limits of our frontend, we’re looking for someone who thrives in ambiguity, cares deeply about UX, and enjoys wearing multiple hats. You should have strong full-stack fundamentals, a sharp design sensibility, and a high bar for polish and performance. Responsibilities Own the Frontend Experience: Design, build, and refine the core frontend architecture and components that power Runloop’s AI development environment. Identify areas of fragility or opportunity in the frontend codebase and make improvements before they become bottlenecks. Fullstack Contributions: While your primary focus will be frontend, you’ll also contribute across the stack to ensure smooth data flow, robust integrations, and great developer ergonomics. Be Customer Obsessed: Help tackle open issues affecting real users—triaging, fixing, and improving with speed and empathy. Collaborate Closely: Work directly with product, design, and backend engineers to ship features quickly and thoughtfully. Qualifications Solid computer science fundamentals; a CS degree is preferred but not required. 3 years of experience, ideally with time spent at multiple startups. Demonstrated ownership—whether through impactful roles at early-stage companies, zero-to-one building in more established tech brands, or polished side projects. Strong product and design sensibility; able to translate complex workflows into intuitive interfaces. Experience building and maintaining production systems used by real customers. Bonus Points Someone with startup experience, who thrives in fast-moving, high-autonomy environments. A front-end focused engineer with full-stack range. A builder with taste—someone who can take a product from rough idea to polished implementation. A proactive teammate who spots problems before users do, and fixes them without being asked.
