Are you a behavioral health professional looking to make an impact and help children and families in our community?

As our  Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner, you will have the opportunity to help youth and their families in rural Nebraska by providing behavioral health crisis intervention and prevention services, while working as part of an interdisciplinary team at our new behavioral health urgent care facility in Kearney.

The position offers an annual salary range of $66,476 to $86,424,, depending on the candidate's qualifications and experience. In addition, a comprehensive total rewards and benefits package is provided. Final compensation may exceed the stated range for candidates with extensive work experience.

Schedule: Full Time, 1p-8p.

The skills set we are seeking include crisis assessment that focuses on first session stabilization, provision of initial intervention skills, and brief treatment planning. The follow-up care or bridge care will be brief evidence-based solution focused strategies that match the patients presenting issue(s) with the patients/families capacity to implement. Specific modalities might include CBT, DBT, ACT, MI, and parent training. It will be essential that successful candidates are trauma care informed. Additional services including social work case management, care navigation, basic lab draws, and telehealth will be added as the program develops.

A Brief Overview
Provides quality psychotherapy and education to children, families and adults in the appropriate specialty/departmental needs. Diagnose and treat patients independently. Establishes and maintains professional working relationships with hospital staff, physicians, community agencies, and professionals. 


Education Qualifications

  • Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, counseling, or related field Required

Experience Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years' experience as a licensed mental health practitioner in a child or adolescent environment preferred
  • Experience in outpatient mental health setting preferred

Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of psychological principles, child and adolescent development, inter-relational dynamics, individual and group behavior, and behavior modification techniques.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with patients and families, physicians, and other clinical professionals to gather and exchange patient information.
  • Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail of work time when providing therapy, observing patient response, scoring tests, and documenting patient progress.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skill in providing age-appropriate care to children, adolescents, adults and families.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Current and valid Independent Mental Health Practitioner Nebraska license or state of Nebraska eligible Required
  • Non-Violent Intervention training Preferred

*Open to interviewing candidates who have their PLMHP or LMHP and sitting for independent licensure in the next couple of months. Must be a licensed LIMHP prior to starting if hired on.
