Summary:
Butterfly Staffing is seeking a Financial Manager for a design-build mechanical contractor that specializes in HVAC, plumbing, and refrigeration systems for mission-critical federal, institutional, and commercial facilities. Projects include hospitals, military installations, and data centers often in occupied environments with tight schedules and compliance requirements. This is a hands-on, fast-paced financial leadership role ideal for someone with construction accounting experience who thrives in environments with multiple active jobs and service contract components.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and manage annual budgets and rolling project forecasts
• Monitor job costing, labor tracking, and material spend across dozens of active jobs
• Coordinate closely with project managers on progress billing and field financials
• Oversee certified payroll reporting and Davis-Bacon wage compliance
• Manage AR/AP, subcontractor payments, and daily cash flow
• Maintain accurate WIP schedules and provide real-time project performance metrics
• Track service and maintenance contract revenue and costs separately from construction
• Support audit preparation for CPA reviews and government inspections
• Improve internal controls and optimize financial processes for scalability
• Recommend systems (e.g., FOUNDATION®, Deltek, QuickBooks) that support field visibility and compliance

Ideal Candidate Profile:

• 5–10 years of financial leadership in mechanical, plumbing, or trade contracting
• Experience with high-volume job costing and certified payroll
• Comfortable working in a service-heavy, fast-moving construction environment
• Knowledge of FAR/DFARS and federal contract requirements
• Familiarity with FOUNDATION® or similar construction accounting systems is a strong plus
• Process-driven and organized, with strong field-level communication skills
• Ready to step into a growing organization with increasing financial complexity and visibility
