Job Description
We are hiring a skilled and compassionate Dog Groomer with 3-5+ years of hands on grooming experience to join our growing team. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable in breed standards, experienced with coat specific grooming needs and temperaments, including those with behavioral challenges. You must be team oriented, detail driven, and capable of delivering consistent, high quality grooms with a gentle and calm approach.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform full-service grooming: bathing, blow-drying, brushing, de-matting, de-shedding, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and gland expression (if requested).
Deliver breed-specific cuts with accuracy and attention to detail, as well as custom or owner-requested styles.
Demonstrate a strong knowledge of canine coat types and how to properly maintain them.
Handle dogs of all breeds, ages, and temperaments with confidence, care, and safety as the top priority.
Use fear-free and holistic handling techniques to reduce stress, especially for anxious, reactive, or elderly dogs.
Observe and report any skin or coat issues to clients, with education on proper grooming maintenance.
Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized grooming station and salon environment.
Collaborate with fellow team members to create a harmonious and respectful workplace.
Communicate clearly and kindly with pet parents, building trust and long-term relationships.
Qualifications:
3–5 years of professional grooming experience in a salon, mobile, or vet/grooming facility.
Strong proficiency in breed-specific grooming techniques and breed standards .
Familiarity with a wide range of dog coat types (double coats, curly coats, wire coats, etc.).
Experience working with dogs that have special behavioral or physical needs.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to stay calm and patient in challenging situations.
Reliable, punctual, and able to manage time efficiently in a busy grooming schedule.
Pet CPR/First Aid Certification is a strong plus (or willingness to obtain).
Passion for holistic wellness, including the use of calming tools like aromatherapy or herbal rinses (training available).
Able to lift and support dogs up to 50 lbs.
