Job Description
Direct Counsel is representing an AmLaw 100 firm seeking a junior associate attorney to join its Finance and Bankruptcy Practice Group in New York City .
This is a unique opportunity to work with a nationally respected bankruptcy team that handles high-stakes financial restructurings and complex creditor’s rights litigation. The team advises on both U.S. and cross-border matters and collaborates across practice groups including commercial finance, real estate, tax, labor, and corporate law to solve multifaceted insolvency issues.
Key Responsibilities:Represent clients in bankruptcy-related litigation and financial restructuring matters
Draft motions, including summary judgment, motions to dismiss, and complex discovery motions
Participate in depositions, motion practice, and trials
Advise on secured transactions and commercial disputes
Manage multiple assignments and deadlines with precision
Collaborate with attorneys across practice groups in a team-oriented office environment
2–3 years of experience in commercial and bankruptcy-related litigation
Demonstrated interest in or exposure to bankruptcy practice
Proficiency in legal research, oral advocacy, and written communication
Strong understanding of secured transactions law
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative in-office environment
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials
Admitted to the New York State Bar
The salary range for this position is $235,000 – $260,000 per year. Please note this range reflects a good-faith estimate associated with this specific role and complies with the New York City Salary Transparency Law. Final compensation will be based on experience and qualifications.
